The use of titanium dioxide or zinc oxide as sunscreen and effectiveness of UV radiation?
I am a house made of sun protection and hope to get some clarification on the physical blocks, especially titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. I wonder if they are better by blocking UVA, UVB and UVC (a problem in Australia) radiation. Is there a disadvantage or an advantage of using two or separately? I know that the maximum 25% of the solution or there would be an advantage of using a solution of 12.5% at a time? I tan pretty basic. I will be suspending the solution coconut oil, soybean and olive oil. I think the use of protective clothing in the sun and this does not apply to exposed skin. So if you have ideas, comments or suggestions, please share with me. I am also very aware that you can buy the same efficiency, if not more effective lotions commercially prepared, but I will not do that in the short term. I many allergies and hypersensitivity, and too independent of a series. Thank you all.
Both substances are essentially blocking simple physical agents that have a broad absorption spectrum of wavelengths of light and UV-A and UV-B (not sure of the UV-C, but I suspect that work well against that too). The reasoning behind the maximum allowance of 25% is probably more frm the point of view of treatment for toxicological reasons. You must use Pharma grade ZnO and TiO2 to make sure they have all the heavy metals arsenic, cadmium in the mixture. You also need an anti-staling agent (antioxidant – oil, wheat germ work, or vitamin E). His problem with "home production" will be one consistency – it is necessary to ensure that the oxides are ground to micron or less than one micron and a "tight" particle dispersion (Ie, all the same size particles – for example + / – 50%). For an aesthetic product, or a dispersion of nano-particles – which are a "non-bleaching" type of sunscreen.
